Gladiators of the Red Mountain

A Party Changed through Time

3 New adventurers joined the party, Mozbet, Callick and Artebius. This happened at the mercenaries guild where they had to sign up and take on an entry level job. Mozbet and Callick tried to get a boy to join their Relgion but that just brought the guards upon them. Tress got drunk with Artebius. They picked up their first job, which was to clear an orc dungeon. The group accomplished this with ease, destroying a ritual and portal in the process. They went back to the guild and signed the papers to make them part of the guild and picked up 2 more contracts. The first contract was to get rid of a singing lady near a farm. They found that it was on an old battlefield and soon the angelic lady appeared. She sang and sang and the party tried to get her attention. The only thing that worked was using a psychic power to make her stop. That caused wraiths to appear, which killed Mozbet and Callick. The lady begin singing and resurrected the two fallen adventurers. She then seemed to be down and went on her way. The party left that place and went to their second contract. This was to clear an abandoned town of goblins. The party happily did this, killing all, except one baby. Callick drew their religious symbol in the town, Tress died and Mozbet kept his head on top of his. The pirate captain did not take kindly to this action and threw them off the ship. So they went back to the town for a few days but had no supplies. Mozbet and Callick went to the forest and got lost. They tried to tame a bear and were not able to do so. Then they found a secret in the forest, which eventually turned back time to when they stepped off the ship the first time, with Tress. Only Mozbet and Callick knew about the time travel so they stayed away from religious symbols and kept Tress alive. The party accomplished the task, kept the baby alive and flew back to the guild.

The group took off in the airship to find a Baselesk and kill it for a reward. The group found this creature and came close to killing it, Fishlock lost an arm and Fenwick decided to tame the creature. So he got left behind to tame this creature, which he did very successfully and named it Bubba 2.0. Fishlock needed a prothstetic arm and the Pirate Engineer said he could get one if they went to the Crystal Isles. The group flew there on the airship. On the way there Fishlock came close to death but Shaleak was able to sustain his life. Damien and Shaleak stayed behind, because it was a full moon, once they arrived. Tress, Drubar and the Pirate engineers went searching for the needed crystals. They were able to locate them but also ran into a few cyclops’. With the help of the ships cannons the cyclops were killed or chased off and the group got their crystals. They made it back to the ship and climbed the ladder. Fishlock was barely conscious and being fit for his prosthetic when Shaleak told everyone to get out. They did and Shaleak sacrificed Fishlock as well. He blamed it on Damien, who had transformed into his werewolf form. They also told the party that Damien had ripped of Tress’ arm and he would need the prosthetic, that had really been Shaleak who cut it off for him. The party believed him and Tress’ so they left it alone and gave Tress the prosthetic arm. They went back to find Fenwick, or his body. It was an easy find as Fenwick was right where they had decided on and he was there with the Baselesk. They loaded the creature and Fenwick into the airship and left for the Mercenaries Guild. As they took into the air a Chimera struck the ship. This battle lasted for what seemed like ages. The Chimera killed Hinter on the deck of the ship before Fenwick and Shaleak lept onto two of the heads. One of the heads flung Shaleak across the boat and over the side. He prayed and shifted into the boat, grabbed a cannonball and ran back onto the deck. He jumped off the ship onto the Chimera and grabbed onto Fenwick. Fenwick pushed him away and held the javelin and rope he was connected too. Shaleak blew up the Chimera and fell to the ground, barely dying. The group somberly flew to the mercenaries guild.

The party landed on the orc island, where they went to find some orcs. They killed a gorilla and were ambushed by a human party. Then they made a deal with an orc chief that they would create peace on this island. They set out for the other villages on the island to help create this peace. The group made it to the second village and talked with the chief there, he told them they must clear out a settlement of raiders. The party found this settlement and set about to destroy it. Rattlegear prepared tomes that were explosive and proceeded to blow up 3 of the tents. Hinter and Tress went into the 4th and final tent to stop Rattlegear. He blew it up anyways, which seemed like the end of that story. When those left in the party returned to the Orc village, the chief said he would send his scout dogs with them to get proof. The party went back to the settlement and realized that not everyone had been killed and that those in the last tent had escaped. The party chased them down and Rattlegear went to kills Fawkes, the leader of this human settlement. Hinter had sword loyalty to him and wouldn’t let that happen. Rattlegear and HInter engaged in a fight, a tree was dropped on Rattlegear and Hinter tried to blow both of them up with a tome. The tome disappeared through a portal thanks to Fawkes. Hinter told Rattlegear to split and so most of the party went south to the final village, to try and gain peace there. This town was larger and known for their slave trading. The party made it in through a wagon and went to the prison to free some prisoners. Here they found a baby orc and Shaleak, who grew up in prisons, sacrificed a half orc to his God. The crew took off for the port and commandeered a small transport ship. HInter told them to wait for Fawkes who was still in the town. A legion of Orcs stormed towards the ship on one side while Fawkes sprinted on the other. Shaleak, Hinter, Sergei (A Brawler the group had found recently) and Fenwick stayed on the dock. Shaleak threw his magic fork into the orc crowd and stabbed an orc in the face, Sergei did the same with an axe and Fenwick took his horse and sprinted towards Fawkes. He picked up Fawkes and everyone jumped onto the boat as orcs streamed off the dock. One, with a fork in his head fell in so they picked him up with a rope, took out the fork and threw him back. Thus the group traveled on. They decided to sail for the land near Calderas. On the ay there the ship was attacked by poison and pirates. Hank, the cook, perished in a tragic fall. The others survived and took on a pirate engineer and the MV Shalmean. (Named after Shaleak’s Mother). They also found out about a Pirate Bay where they would be more welcome. The group sailed for that port. In the port the group took on various tasks, including stealing at the pub, finding the thieves guild, Shaleak losing multiple fingers, and Damien working with the shipping company heir. The group also gained access to an airship with an old time pirate captain. Continued in Part 4…

During the last days of their Gladiatorial they also gained Rattlegear, a cyborg, as part of their party. The party won their last battle that they were told would ensure their freedom. That evening they slept in anticipation of their release. As they were being shown their fortune, the next morning, a rebellion arose in the arena’s prison. Sir Charles decided to skip out on the party and let them fend for themselves. They did so and chased after Sir Charles (and their fortune) in a wagon. They found Sir Charles and killed him, took the gold and left for a port town. When they arrived at the port town they sought supplies and a ship to get away from this place, where they were now fugitives. They found a ship that was for sale and could take them across the sea. In order to use and buy this ship they needed to sale the captain on his last voyage. They agreed to this and set sail. On this ship they took on Sir Damien, a fighter, into their party. For weeks the ship sailed without problems until a kraken struck. This creature broke the ship in half and this sent Rattlegear on one half of the ship and the rest of the party and crew on the other. The party and crew sailed half the ship to within shouting distance of the island of Ooshlesh. They seemed to have made it free and clear when they ran into a spire. After the most ridiculous and idiotic fight between this spire and the party they made it to Ooshlesh. The party found a map of the island and decided to go to the village. Sir Damien found a ring on the beach and put it on immediately. It hurt him but he thought little of it. They trekked through the swamps and snuck into a lizard folk village. Here they were introduced to the chief. He told them that his village had been losing hunters to something strange and he would like the party to investigate. The party took on the task and went out into the forest. There they found a fungi that was taking over the forest and had killed multiple hunters, including the daughter of the chief. They reported this to the chief and he decided to burn the poisoned forest down. The party would help the next morning. That evening Palbel and Hinter, another fighter, awoke to loud screams. They quickly left their hut and ran to the noises. There they discovered a dead female lizard person, mauled in fact. They entered the hut where the perpetrator had gone and engaged with a Werewolf. It was discovered after they knocked out this Werewolf that it was indeed Sir Damien. He wore a ring that made him into a Werewolf on full moons and so a pact was made that he would have to chain himself up during these frenzies. The next morning they set off to help with the fires in the forest that were already going. It was discovered that the fires were only making the fungi stronger and that the spore queen must be found. The party searched and found that the spore queen was traveling attached to a behemoth. The group found this behemoth and killed it and then spore, which made the fungi die off. They returned to the chief and were given a key and information to access a tomb. The party went to the tomb and entered it. Here they went down level after level. At one point they went through a gargoyle hall, and when someone stepped near enough a gargoyle, the gargoyles would charge them. Palbel, like a drunken fool, fell twice into the light and died. The next level down the group found a shifter, named Shaleak, who enjoyed pain thoroughly. He joined the party so that he could cause pain in many people. They continued down levels, found a fork, killed a skeleton with that fork and went into the tomb of a king. They dispatched the king and he thanked them for putting him to rest. An old acquaintance, Gavias showed them into a secret room, where they found a powerful magical item and Gavias stole it from them. He wheeled out and they all turned back toward the village. They found Rattlegear back there and found out their gold had been stolen by orcs. They decided to sail after it, to the orc Island.

In the beginning there were 5, Odja (Undead Warlock), Michael Boop (Elf Ranger), Tress (Dwarf Cleric), Fenwick Mcgibbles (Gnome Rogue) and Hans Johnson (Human Slayer). There is also an NPC named Drubar, a Draconic Fighter. They found themselves transported to Callderis to fight in the Gladiator Arena and die. They battled Goblins, Orcs, Devil Rays, Gollums, a Dragon and A Dryder before a fateful turn of events. On that day Boop woke up feeling innocent. Fenwick and He decided to shoot an arrow out a window. They did this successfully but were warned by the guards not to do it again, not please with the results they fired again. This time the overbearing guards came after them. Boop quickly hid the bow and Fenwick covered his friends back. He lied and said that Daniel, best friend to Hans was the one who shot the arrow. The guards believed him and proceeded to take Daniel out of the dungeon. A few hours later, after a verbal beating was given to Fenwick and Boop, Daniel reappeared minus a hand. He later bled out and died. A few arena encounters later, Hans begun controlling the Undead General. The party, minus Tress and Drubar, ganged up on Boop and killed him. Luckily for Fenwick he had the grumpy dumpies. Hans also perished by way of his own hand.

The arena managers decided they needed a few more for their fighting troup so they gave the party a Human Druid, Palbel Wolfcaller. He had a spirit bear by the name of Travis accompanying him. The group fought well enough to earn a sponsor, Sir Charles, who promised their freedom should they continue winning their battles. They did…

Welcome to your campaign!
A blog for your campaign

Wondering how to get started? Here are a few tips:

1. Invite your players

Invite them with either their email address or their Obsidian Portal username.

2. Edit your home page

Make a few changes to the home page and give people an idea of what your campaign is about. That will let people know you’re serious and not just playing with the system.

3. Choose a theme

If you want to set a specific mood for your campaign, we have several backgrounds to choose from. Accentuate it by creating a top banner image.

4. Create some NPCs

Characters form the core of every campaign, so take a few minutes to list out the major NPCs in your campaign.

A quick tip: The “+” icon in the top right of every section is how to add a new item, whether it’s a new character or adventure log post, or anything else.

5. Write your first Adventure Log post

The adventure log is where you list the sessions and adventures your party has been on, but for now, we suggest doing a very light “story so far” post. Just give a brief overview of what the party has done up to this point. After each future session, create a new post detailing that night’s adventures.

One final tip: Don’t stress about making your Obsidian Portal campaign look perfect. Instead, just make it work for you and your group. If everyone is having fun, then you’re using Obsidian Portal exactly as it was designed, even if your adventure log isn’t always up to date or your characters don’t all have portrait pictures.

That’s it! The rest is up to your and your players.
